The most money I have ever made was working for my mother.
I have never made a dollar off of my Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry, although I was once hired by a church to do administrative work for 16 hours a week.
After 3 years of that, I was laid off for the church to afford hiring my husband for a full-time position. That was my last paid job.
Ministry and art aren't exactly lucrative career pursuits. But as an uncredentialed artist in a medium that's considered craft or folk art simply because it's dominated by women, I feel set up to struggle through this topic, through bringing my whole self to every table I can sit at and still being utterly financially dependent on my husband, who has no more credentials than I. I'm learning that all of these things can be gifts that will turn me into more of the badass I want to be.
